Convert FL Studio to Pro Tools: a PTX session

Since version 0.9.993, Wolflow converts a FL Studio project to a native Pro Tools session (.ptx) on Windows and Mac. This is more than stem export: supported project elements are rebuilt in the destination. Check requirements, plugins and the report before working on the result.

What you need for Pro Tools

The Pro Tools destination is available on Windows and macOS. The result includes the PTX session and its audio: keep the session file and Audio Files folder together. You need Pro Tools to open and work on the result.

FL Studio to Pro Tools, step by step

  1. Update Wolflow to 0.9.993 or later and keep a copy of the FLP project with its samples.
  2. Open the Converter, select the FLP and choose Pro Tools in project mode.
  3. Run the conversion and keep the entire generated session folder.
  4. Read the report and open the .ptx result in Pro Tools.

Plugins, samplers and settings

Pro Tools uses AAX plugins. A VST in the FL project is not enough: transferring the preset requires the corresponding installed, supported AAX plugin. Also check plugin version compatibility.

The Waves CR8 sampler used by the Mac path requires that plugin on the computer. That sampling path is unavailable on Windows; the report describes elements that did not transfer.

Verify the project beyond opening it

Review tracks, audio clips, MIDI notes and tempo. Listen to drums and samplers, then compare levels, mute states, sends and presets with the source. Use the conversion report to find items needing manual work.

Keep a bounce of the original session as a reference. For an incompatible part, export audio from the source DAW and include it with the converted project.

When to choose stems or AAF instead

Native conversion lets you continue working on supported editable elements. Stem/AAF mode transfers rendered audio: it preserves edits and positions within the importer’s limits, but instruments and MIDI do not remain editable in the same way. These are separate Converter workflows.

Frequently asked questions

Does Wolflow really create a .ptx?

Yes. Version 0.9.993 includes the native FL Studio to Pro Tools path. The result and individual elements’ transfer depend on requirements and compatibility shown by the Converter.

Does it work on Windows and Mac?

Native Pro Tools sessions are available on both. Some instruments or sampling paths remain Mac-specific and are identified in the report.

Does conversion install missing plugins?

No. Install the required plugins in the destination DAW’s format and have the appropriate licenses. Consider a source audio export for incompatible elements.
